Is Your Website Mobile Friendly?

Google have announced that on April 21st 2015 they will be prioritising mobile friendly websites. In plain English this means websites that are mobile friendly will rank higher in searches than mobile unfriendly sites.

So what does this mean for your website? Basically if your website is not optimised for use on mobile devices your customers will have a harder job finding you.

More people than ever are accessing the internet via mobile devices. It is estimated that 80% of internet users own a smartphone. Google wants to ensure that these mobile users get the best possible experience when they are searching for information.

Check Your Site

To check your website for web friendliness follow this link-  https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/?utm_source=wmc-

Paste in your url and hit analyze.  If your site is optimised you should get the message “Awesome this site is mobile friendly”. Great news –  you don’t need to do anything else.

If your site isn’t optimised Google provides advice on what needs to be done to correct this. It may not be all bad news –  it may be something straightforward such as changing the font size. However if the advice just leaves you feeling boogled it may be worth contacting your site developer.

If you’ve been thinking about getting a new website now might be the right time. With more people searching the internet from their smartphone you don’t want to miss these potential customers.

Rest assured Carawebs customers – all the sites we build are mobile friendly.
